Friday Faves

Some of my favorite things of the week! *Pool days!!!! This summer girl survived the brutal winter...and now this will be my life for the next few months. :) *Exercise: Cable pull-throughs-  I have never done these consistently but just recently added them to the end of my leg day...and I am in love them! I have been supersetting them with monster walks, and ohhh- the booty burn! If you've never done them, you should! My glutes have been so sore the last couple weeks either from these, or all the lunges I did during my workout! *Protein "Ice cream"- I love smoothies that are so thick you have to eat them with a spoon and seriously taste like ice cream. I used frozen bananas this time...and it was soooooo good! And last night I had my Phase8 ice cream that I haven't had since last summer. Forgot how good it was! *This song-   "Fix My Eyes"  by For King & Country.  Listen to it and try not to sing it for the rest of the day! It's a

I'm Shrinking?!

Okay, so yesterday I looked back at some photos of myself from this time last year and realized that I have unknowingly gotten leaner. I mean, my weight is a little lower, and I have been feeling like my legs are smaller, I just didn't realize the difference until I saw these pictures side by side.  I'm a little leaner now, but you can see that my legs are definitely smaller. Needless to say, I'm not too happy about that. I have been eating more carbs than I was back then(proof that carbs DON'T make you fat!!), but I haven't been making a concentrated effort to make sure I'm getting in the calories as I was back then. Obviously I'm not getting in enough! I do NOT want to go back to obsessively tracking my intake, but I do need to get more calories in for sure!   Yeah, I do like my abs now, not gonna lie...but I don't like feeling small. I don't want to be "skinny ripped." I want to look thick and muscular-more of the look I had la

Things That Make Me Happyyy!

First day of the year riding in the Jeep with the doors off! Date nights! It was a beautiful night Saturday for dinner on the river at Buckhead's.    Getting our pool up! Bring it ON, summer!!   Grilling out and eating dinner outside on the patio! Relaxing with a book in this spot right here. :) Getting sent cute pics of Celeste like this. :) I can't believe she'll be a year old in just a couple of months! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Good Devotional :)

"Optimism"   by Charles R. Swindoll    Psalm 31:24 Vision —the one essential ingredient for being an original in a day of copies—gets lost, overwhelmed by the odds. Too bad! We start focusing on the trouble. Then we start comparing the odds. The result is predictable: We become intimidated and wind up defeated.   What is your challenge? Which giants make you feel like a grasshopper when you face them? What does your future resemble when you measure it on the basis of facts and figures? You'd like not to surrender, right? You'd like to be courageous, wouldn't you? There is a way through, but you'll need one essential quality—vision.   Vision is the ability to see God's presence, to perceive God's power, to focus on God's plan in spite of the obstacles.   When you have vision it affects your attitude. Your attitude is optimistic rather than pessimistic. Your attitude stays positive rather than negative. Not foolishly positive,

"Clear Muscle" Trial & The Workout That Gave Me Debilitating DOMS!

So I think I may have went a little overboard Wednesday with it being my first real leg workout after my deload week...I woke up with horrible DOMS the next day. Like, I have not had this kind of soreness in probably years. I mean, I couldn't even sleep well last night because every time I would move my legs it was so painful! Here's what I did- 1)Squat jumps: 3x5 2)Squats: 155x 2x6/135x10 3)BB hip thrusts: 125x12/145x10/155x10/10 4)Single leg front loaded reverse lunges: 75x4x8 5a)Glute ham raise: 3x12 5b)Ball pike: 3x12 6a)Cable pullthroughs: 3x15 6b)Mini band walks: 2x12 lateral/2x15 forward Finisher: 70 walking lunges I tried to stay active yesterday as much as could, and it feels a  somewhat better today. If I'm not recovered by tomorrow, I'll definitely have to modify my workout and maybe just do some light prowlers or something depending on how I feel. I think it may have been the walking lunges that did it! Don't know what I was thinking! We

A Healthy Lifestyle

I believe in living a healthy lifestyle.  What is a healthy lifestyle?  To me, it's nourishing your body with healthy foods most of the time, not crash dieting just to reach a certain number on the scale.  It's training hard and lifting heavy because it makes you a stronger person physically and mentally, not as punishment for eating something "bad".  It's enjoying life to the fullest by allowing yourself your favorite not so healthy foods every now and then, not letting food control your life.  It's eating foods you really enjoy, not choking down food you hate just to get a 6 pack .  It's improving your inner self, loving God and others to the fullest, not just constantly obsessing about your outward appearance. It's knowing that you are not defined by a number on a scale or a body fat percentage or how much muscle you have.  It's loving yourself the way you are, while at the same time, striving to be the best and healthiest versio

New Protein & Training Plan

In case you wondered how I eat during a deload/rest week...well, it's pretty much the same meals that I eat during a training week. The only thing different is that I don't have my post workout carb and protein meal, so there is maybe one less meal a day. Everything else is the same-portion sizes, carbs at each meal, etc. Even though I wasn't training hard this week, I was still super hungry! Saturday I ended my deload week by doing my last deadlift workout on the program I've been following. It was 3 sets of 1 at 95% of my 1 rep max. Here is my second set at 235lbs: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10101023950721724&l=26793058359173987 It felt pretty heavy, I'm not gonna lie. Still working towards that 250 deadlift! That's more than twice my bodyweight, but I am not giving up! In other news, my order of MuscleTech's new Platinum Whey finally arrived! I've SO been anticipating trying this new protein, and let me tell you-it has not di

Happy Sunday :)

Weekend Pics & A Quickie Deload Workout

Hey everyone! I'm a day late, but I hope you all had a great weekend!   Mine started by sampling some MuscleTech goodies at the Run For the Red 5 & 10k race/walk Saturday morning at Fort Knox. I love being a MuscleTech girl! :)   Our "treat" for this week was pizza!!!  I love how Asher is photobombing this picture! Since I couldn't do my Saturday morning workout, I went in Sunday instead. Did a bunch of heavy sled pushes...closest thing to "cardio" you'll ever see me do right here!     Sunday we drove out to Mom's for Mother's Day. I love these pics of her and Celeste.     She is just the most precious, cutest little girl ever!!!   So this week I'm taking a deload/rest week since I've been going hard for the past 4 months. I'm not going to be doing much-just some short walks and mobility and a few easy full body workouts. I'm staying out of the gym because I can't seem to let go of my e

Random Things

Sooo I sprained my ankle. I was jumping rope like I always do to warm up Saturday and just landed a weird way and twisted my ankle-how stupid is that? Luckily, it wasn't a bad sprain, but it did swell up. It kind of sucks mostly because this is my one rep max week! I decided to go ahead and try upper body yesterday. I just wrapped my ankle and it felt fine, so I was able to pretty much do my full upper body workout. I got PRs on both push presses and bench, sprained ankle and all! PRs make me happy!!! I got 135 on push press, which I failed at the last time I did this program. Then I did an easy rep of 140 for bench.    I'm not sure if I should squat tomorrow or not. The swelling is almost gone, but I'll just wait and see how I feel tomorrow.   Anyways, Saturday my husband and I decided to give frozen yogurt a try for the first time. I have seen so many pictures on Instagram that look so yummy...but we were a little disappointed. Mine was pretty good with all

Memory Verse Monday + Tips

For those who are following along and memorizing Psalm 139 with me, I know it's been awhile, but I haven't forgotten! I actually just had a hard time for some reason memorizing the last portion. Our next section is Psalm 139: 19-24. The last verse is one of my favorites from the Psalms. If only you, God, would slay the wicked!     Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!   They speak of you with evil intent;     your adversaries misuse your name. Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord ,     and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?   I have nothing but hatred for them;     I count them my enemies.   Search me, God, and know my heart;     test me and know my anxious thoughts.   See if there is any offensive way in me,     and lead me in the way everlasting. A few tips for memorizing scripture : *Read the passage out loud several times. *Think about what the passage means. *Pray over the meaning and ask God to help you memorize it. *Repeat the first
